During a recent studio brainstorm, we discovered a long lost part of F&E’s archive that’s been heavily neglected…. our blog! Shamefully the last post dated back to 2016. It got us debating, in the fast-paced online world, is there still a place for a blog on our website?
The mere appearance of this word on our website suddenly felt almost embarrassing - definitely not cool! So what was the answer, should it stay or should it go?
We’ve never expected that blogging F&E style was going to make us multimillionaire internet stars, but with shorter attention spans (Facebook currently counts a “view” as 3 seconds) and endless ways to connect with followers, is a blog still relevent or worth the effort?
Our first thought was yes, it is! Why not? But the embarrassing “blog” title is so 2006. It had to go, immediately. We needed a rebrand. But how to rename a “naughties” online phenomenon and not promise too much from our humble offerings (which lets face it, might become erratic)….
Journal - bit formal?
Log - bit poo like?
Stories - Quite nice?
Minutes - We like the fact it has several interpretations of what it could be
Memos - Not cool
Chatter - bit terrorist-y? (Been watching too much Homeland)
Musings - bit dreamy?
Yak - misleading for shaggy-haired wild ox fans?
Stories it is.
Next, could we build up the courage to write and share what we find interesting? Does it matter if no one reads it? Well, we’ve got this far so I guess the answer is, why not? We’ve got ideas, we’ve got words, maybe we can engage someone even if it’s just ourselves!
So here we are, introducing F&E’s place to share stories, chatter and general musings from the team here at F&E. We’ll enjoy adding to it, hope some of you enjoy reading it!
