Let’s Talk Menopause
A short animation creating awareness around menopause in the workplace and highlighting the support available during this pivitol life stage.
Let's Talk Menopause is a short explainer animation commissioned by Havas Just on behalf of Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS). The aim was to raise awareness of BMS's Menopause Friendly Workplace accreditation and educate viewers on how the menopause can impact a person at work.
With 8 in 10 menopausal women in work, and making up the fastest-growing demographic in the workforce, this felt like a very important animation to be made. Especially given almost three-quarters of businesses do not have a menopause policy in place, according to a YouGov survey.
F&E got involved from the very start of the project, collaborating with Havas Just, to write a warm, friendly script and evolve their brand illustration style for animation.
The narrative follows a symptomatic employee during a typical working day at BMS UK&I. Continuing, to intertwine a character-based narrative with informational facts and stats.
The story explores how symptoms affect an individual, as well as the people around them. Importantly, going on to provide an overview of the measures BMS have put in place to help support its staff. Whether going through menopause themselves, or supporting a colleague or family member with their experience.
BMS's initiative forms a benchmark for awareness of menopause in the workplace. Serving as a practical introduction to their policies and procedures, designed to improve workplace environments, for everyone.
