Fred & Eric were commissioned by a Foundation called the City Bridge Trust (based within the Corporation of London), to promote its new employee volunteer programme to staff. The brief was to create an approachable, passionate 2 minute animation; reaching out to people by engaging with their interests and passions, to highlight the benefits of volunteering. Inspiring staff to tap into their own passions and interests to help others.

Excited by this brief, our team developed a painterly illustration style. Evoking a stirring and poignant narrative, designed to emotionally engage employees with the themes. The story features passengers on a bus, passing various scenarios which conjure thoughts of connecting with others through their own experiences. Highlighting a number of ways they could volunteer their time and expertise.

In keeping with the painterly illustrations, the transitions reveal new settings with colours seeping into the paper. Whilst line-work draws on with a stop frame feel. Resulting in a tactile and authentic animation. Inspiring employees to engage with City Bridge Trust's programme with the overarching message: You could change a life. Maybe your own.
